Silicone based colour restorers will fade very quickly (within 2 – 3 months). It is the silicone in these type of restorers that just adds a shine to the surface they do not rejuvenate the pigments in the plastic or surface.
POLYTROL benefits are :
1/ POLYTROL will last longer. At least 3 to 4 times longer and in some cases more
2/ POLYTROL reinvigorates the pigments in the surface. So restores the genuine colour. Silicone just adds a shine to it.
3/ POLYTROL can be used to restore a multitude of surfaces - car trim, paintwork, Yellowed plastic headlamps. Silicone would not restore yellowed headlamps.
4/ POLYTROL can be waxed or polished if desired after the colour has been restored. Something that due to the nature of silicone is not possible as it forms a very fine film on the surface that nothing can adhere to.

Even if white is a colour, it isn't pigmented in the same way as blue, green or red. For whites, there is no pigment and therefore, POLYTROL can't restore them.

POLYTROL must penetrate the surface to be able to restore the colours. If it is applied to a hot surface, it will probably dry before it has had the chance to penetrate properly and restore the colour of the surface you are treating.
No you cannot, in fact no oil should be applied to rubber as it will harden the rubber causing it to become brittle. In the case of tyres this will comprise there safety.
You can use Polytrol on a stainless steel exhaust near the end of the exhaust i.e the part furthest away from, the manifold. However it is important that the Polytrol is allowed to fully dry. Once fully dry it will be heat resistant to 175°C.
