What are the benefits of using Polytrol vs Spray colour restorer containing silicone?
Silicone based colour restorers will fade very quickly (within 2 – 3 months). It is the silicone in these type of restorers that just adds a shine to the surface they do not rejuvenate the pigments in the plastic or surface.
POLYTROL benefits are :
1/ POLYTROL will last longer. At least 3 to 4 times longer and in some cases more
2/ POLYTROL reinvigorates the pigments in the surface. So restores the genuine colour. Silicone just adds a shine to it.
3/ POLYTROL can be used to restore a multitude of surfaces - car trim, paintwork, Yellowed plastic headlamps. Silicone would not restore yellowed headlamps.
4/ POLYTROL can be waxed or polished if desired after the colour has been restored. Something that due to the nature of silicone is not possible as it forms a very fine film on the surface that nothing can adhere to.
I applied too much POLYTROL and now it's dried on the surface. Can I remove it and start again?
Yes. It can be removed with DILUNETT. However, it is important to note that this product is a paint stripper so you must make sure you protect the area around the surface to be cleaned.
I used POLYTROL on a white surface and it doesn't seem to work. Why not?
Even if white is a colour, it isn't pigmented in the same way as blue, green or red. For whites, there is no pigment and therefore, POLYTROL can't restore them.

No, POLYTROL isn't a varnish and isn't suited to this type of situation.

Is it possible to use POLYTROL on Samsonite® hard shell suitcases made from ABS or polypropylene to treat scratches or marks?
No, it's not suitable for this purpose.
Can I apply Polytrol on Black stone to restore its original colour?
Yes you can. You should clean stone with Net-trol and they after 24 hrs apply Polytrol.
How to clean and restore Façades made with BAQ panels that fade-off due to weather exposure.
The BAQ panels can be cleaned with Pura-trol and when dry, treated with Polytrol.
Why can't you apply POLYTROL to a hot surface?
POLYTROL must penetrate the surface to be able to restore the colours. If it is applied to a hot surface, it will probably dry before it has had the chance to penetrate properly and restore the colour of the surface you are treating.
Can you apply Polytrol on tyre's to restore the black on the wall of the tyre ?
No you cannot, in fact no oil should be applied to rubber as it will harden the rubber causing it to become brittle. In the case of tyres this will comprise there safety.
Is it worth it to apply Polytrol on an Stainless Exhaust(outside application) for corrosion protection. My Main concern is high temperatures it might reach when car is running?
You can use Polytrol on a stainless steel exhaust near the end of the exhaust i.e the part furthest away from, the manifold. However it is important that the Polytrol is allowed to fully dry. Once fully dry it will be heat resistant to 175°C.
