PROPERTIES
Apply to rusted surfaces.
Insulates: Drives out moisture and air. Stops and stabilises rust without any chemical action.
Excellent light and heat reflecting properties.
Easy application.
MARINE OIL based* (OWATROL OIL)
- Ideal for aggressive climatic conditions.
- Highly flexible. temperature resistant up to 175°C.
- Will not crack, peel or blister.
- Adheres to various prepared substrates, new or old, rusted or new metal.
WHERE TO USE
Interior, Exterior.
Ferrous or non-ferrous metals, wood, old paint and varnishes.
Above the waterline: Deck fittings, matts, balconies, cleats....trailers, boats, pipes.
Non marine: Tanks, exhausts....
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface must be clean, properly prepared and free from any sanding residue before applying OWATROL-GLV.
New surfaces exc Aluminium:
- Clean surface with a non-oxidising solvent e.g. White Spirit, Acetone.
- Sand with 60-120 grit abrasive or sandblast. Fibreglass 180-220 grit.
- Sand inaccessible areas with a liquid/chemical sander. Use diluted OWAYELL - Contact us.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Apply a rust inhibiting primer - MARINE OIL (OWATROL OIL), OWATROL CIP to avoid a reaction between the aluminium pigment and metal surface.
New Aluminium surfaces
- Clean surface with a non-oxidising solvent e.g. White Spirit, Acetone.
- Sand with 60-120 grit abrasive that is compatible with aluminium or sandblast.
- Sand inaccessible areas with a liquid/chemical sander. Use diluted OWAYELL - Contact us.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Apply 1 coat of OWATROL-GLV as the primer, follow with finish coats.
Oxidised surfaces
- OWATROL-GLV uses solid, stable rust as pigment and for optimum adhesion.
- Remove loose and flaking rust.
- Clean surface with a non-oxidising solvent e.g. White Spirit, Acetone
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Apply OWATROL-GLV.
RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE Application
Stir well before and during use to ensure pigments are fully suspended.
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease etc.
Protect all areas not to be painted.
If in doubt, do a test area.
Do not dilute.
Application
Apply 1 or 2 coats of OWATROL-GLV. Allow 8 to 24 hours (at 20°C and 50% RH) between coats.
For decorative surfaces that will be handled regularly e.g. banisters, handrails... a coat of varnish is recommended - Contact us.
Maintenance
Return unused product to original container. Seal lid tightly.
Any clothes soaked in OWATROL GLV should be dried flat before discarding.
