PROPERTIES
XYLKOTE protects
- Penetrates the wood and protects it from moisture ingress.
- Stabilises the bare untreated wood.
- Minimises movement of the wood - reduces the risk of distortion.
- Protects against mold and fungi
- Excellent penetration.
XYLKOTE decorates
- Accentuates the natural wood grain and colour, especially soft woods (Fir, Pine, Spruce, Larch ,...).
- Clear matt finish
- A clear satin finish can be achieved by applying an additional application 24 hours after saturating the wood.
- Can be tinted with universal colourants (5-10g per litre) or with liquid waxes (US).
XYLKOTE saves time
- Does not blacken over time.
- Easy clean - soap and water.
- Easy maintenance - no sanding or stripping.
- Can be patch repaired.
WHERE TO USE
- Direct on prepared woods
- Floors, worktops, paneling, beams, ...
- On structures after treatment of a product xylophagous.
- Furniture: As the finish or primer before waxing.
- Soft and Hardwoods: Pine, Spruce, Douglas Fir Cedar, Chestnut, Beech, Oak....
- Llaminated woods
RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE Application
- New wood: Abrade with 100 grit paper to open the wood pores, dust off and check it is dry.
- Wood weathered, stained or blackened: clean timber with a degreaser NET-TROL.
- Wood stained, varnished or waxed: XYLKOTE may only be applied to bare wood. Strip or sand back to bare wood.
Application
- Apply a coat of XYLKOTE by brush or roller. Allow to penetrate 15 to 30 minutes.
- Apply a second coat of XYLKOTE. Allow to penetrate 15 to 30 minutes.
- Repeat application until wood is saturated (allow 2-3 applications on new wood).
- Always finish off in the direction of the grain.
- Do not allow XYLKOTE to become touch dry or dry between coats.
- Wipe off any excess product that has not penetrated to avoid shiny spots.
- Allow 24 hours drying before putting item or room into service.
- Satin finish : 24 hours after saturation is complete, apply a single coat of XYLKOTE, allow to dry.
