SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface must be clean, dry, degreased and free of any preparation residue. Drying times given are based on 20°C. at 50% RH. If the atmospheric conditions are lower than this then the overcoating and drying times should be adapted to take this into account.
Painted surfaces (PU, Epoxy, Alkyd, Acrylic) in good condition:
Clean / degrease the surface with OWACLEAN. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Sand 80/100 grit paper. Dust off.
Apply 2 coats of OWAGRIP.
Painted surfaces in poor condition and poorly adhered:
Remove old coating back to the bare surface by chemically stripping or mechanical abrasion.
Clean surface of all preparation residue
Degrease with OWACLEAN.
Rinse well and allow to dry
Apply 1 coat of PID60 MARINE primer.
Allow to dry for 2 to 4 hours.
Apply 2 coats of OWAGRIP.
Bare wood surface:
Degrease oily woods e.g. new Teak with acetone or similar.
Sand with 80/100 grit paper. Dust off.
Apply a coat of OWAGRIP diluted 15% with OWATROL OIL or MARINE OIL. Allow to dry.
Apply a 2nd coat of undiluted OWAGRIP.
Bare new metal:
Degrease with OWACLEAN or other sutiable cleaning agent e.g. Acetone.
Grind (P24 / P36) or sand (40-120 grit).
Clean and allow to dry. Hard to reach areas may be prepared using OWAYELL (1 part OWAYELL to 5 parts water). Leave for 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Apply 1 coat of PID 60 MARINE primer. Allow to dry 2 to 4 hours.
Apply 2 coats of OWAGRIP.
Rusty Metal
Light or moderate rust:

Heavy or severe rust:
Blast, Grind, Sand or use undiluted OWAYELL to remove all rust back to bare clean metal.
Clean thoroughly and allow to dry.
Degrease with OWACLEAN or other suitable cleaning agent e.g. Acetone.
Apply 1 coat of PID 60 MARINE primer. Allow to dry 2 to 4 hours.
Apply 2 coats of OWAGRIP.
Aluminum:
Degrease with OWACLEAN or Acetone.
Sand with 24-120 grit paper compatible with aluminium.
Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Hard to reach areas may be prepared using OWAYELL (1 part OWAYELL to 5 parts water). Leave for 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Apply 1 coat of PID 60 MARINE primer. Allow to dry 2 to 4 hours.

RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE Application
Stir well before and during use.
Do not dilute.
Surface must be clean, dry and thoroughly degreased.
Protect anything you do not wish to paint
Carry out a test beforehand .
Substrate temperature should be between 5 ° C and 35 ° C.
Ambient temperature should be between 5 ° C and 30 ° C.
Application
Drying times given are based on 20°C. at 50% RH. If the atmospheric conditions are lower than this then the overcoating and drying times should be adapted to take this into account.
Apply 1 or 2 coats of OWAGRIP preferably with a short pile roller. Leave to dry 6 hours minimum between coats. Touch dry: 12 hours. Not suitable for application by spray gun.
Dry to walk:
- 24 hours (light traffic with caution).
- 72 hours minimum for normal traffic.
Apply 150 to 200 microns wet film per coat = 100 to 150 dry film per coat. If overcoating time between PID60 MARINE primer and OWAGRIP exceeds 5 days, wipe PID60 MARINE primer with White Spirit and sand PID 60 MARINE primer with 220-320 grit paper. Remove sanding dust with a Tack cloth.
OWAGRIP can be tinted with a universal colourant (2 to 3%). Carry out a test on a small area to determine final colour. Ensure pigments in the colourant are UV resistant.
our Advice
PID 60 MARINE primer can be sanded (180-220 grit) when dry to obtain a perfectly flat surface before applying OWAGRIP. Remove sanding dust with a Tack cloth.
